GeMiTo cellars: Zatti winery




They are the 1950s when Gino Zatti, boy of the Valtrompia and adventurer of experiences, he begins his story with wine for the first time, trading the product in the various clubs and in the accommodation facilities in the area. Towards the end of the decade Gino, together with his family, moved from Valtrompia to Valtènesi, where the new hilly and mild environment convinces him to pursue a dream: to finally grow his vines and produce his own wine. Thanks to the desire to do and his strong entrepreneurial spirit, Gino founds an iron processing company, which at the same time allows him both to maintain the needs of the family and to guarantee him the economic capacity necessary for the purchase of some vineyards. Thus began the production of the first Zatti wine, on the green hills of the small town of Calvagese della Riviera, in the morainic amphitheater of Valtènesi a few kilometers from Lake Garda, the place where Gino moved and which he so deeply learned to love .


For Zatti wine is conceived as a natural product, the result of a careful process that looks at the plant and the fruit, and which sees the human hand and the transformation process as an experience that respects the qualities of the natural element. Indeed treat personally every detail with your own hands, through the knowledge acquired over time and the valuable advice of the qualified people who make it up: this both in the cellar and in the vineyard, from winter pruning to wine bottling. Wine is made in the countryside, not in the cellar. The characteristics of the soil are expressed in the grapes, and then they are handed down in the wine: it is essential to preserve these unmistakable and particular characteristics. This is Zatti's philosophy.

In 2014 they decided to take an important step, expanding production to meet the needs of a wider audience. The opportunity allowed to undertake the process of conversion to organic agriculture; from the harvest 2018 are certified organic, a natural turning point, in tune with the passion they have towards the environment to which they belong. Working according to nature means having a sincere product, of personality, which expresses the sign of the vintages, the nuances that distinguish each individual plot.
