Full, full-bodied, but at the same time lively and fresh, characterized by an unmistakable interweaving of aromas and, already after the first taste, unforgettable. White flowers and ripe fruit, herbaceous notes and sweet spices: the aromatic profile offered by Gualchiera is as complex as it is bewitching, inviting the taster to taste that completes the spell.
Analyzing the history of Imola it is easier than ever to grasp the close connection that binds the development of the city - as a political and industrial center - and the increasing capacity of its inhabitants to exploit the potential of the wonderful water works that surround it.
The Canal of the Mills, originally used mainly for irrigation purposes, in fact became the engine for the development of an extraordinary series of other activities, which offered an important support to the local economy: from the milling of olives, to the production of energy for the ceramic industry, up to an important improvement in hygienic conditions, the possibilities offered by the Imola hydraulic complex contributed more than ever significantly to the economic and social evolution of the city.
If the line Canale dei Molini was born with the specific intent of paying homage to the Imola area, insisting on the deep bond it retains with its past, we certainly could not miss a tribute on our part to the central role that this extraordinary hydraulic work has played in the economic progress of area.
Hence the choice, as a name for ours Albana, of Fulling mill, from the name of the pre-industrial machinery used in the wool industry - particularly flourishing in the Imola area - to perform the so-called fulling of fabrics.
Powered by hydraulic energy, this machinery was often located in buildings located near the canals, which themselves took the name of Gualchiera: it is therefore not surprising that among the more than twenty mills that until the twentieth century drew energy from the waters of the canal, one carried this name.
Gualchiera, faithfully respecting the spirit of the brand Canale dei Molini, is presented as a wine that intends to honor a noble winemaking tradition which, in this case, has as its protagonist the Albana grape, a real golden treasure that Imola finds one of its most famous land of choice.
